Counterflows returns to Glasgow in April for another four days of experimental and underground music, bringing together a diverse range of musicians at shows across the city.
The festival kicks off on April 6 with new age and ambient composer Midori Takada playing live. The show will come in the wake of the reissue of her cult album Through The Looking Glass, which will be available again from next month. The following day, April 7, will see the debut live show of A Carnatic Paradigm. Created by Mark Fell, the project will feature performances from Fell as well as Rian Treanor, Nakul Krishnamurthy and others. Later that day, Ashley Paul Ensemble and Sue Tompkins will both play live.
On April 8, a number of those involved in A Carnatic Paradigm will hold a panel about the concept while a film screening about the Sahel Sounds label will follow at Glasgow’s Art School. Vienna’s Farmers Manual will perform at the same venue that night. The final day will see featured artist Ashley Paul performing live with Rashad Becker, while it will be completed by a live set from Mark Ernestus’ Ndagga Rhythm Force.
Counterflows takes place across a number of carefully selected Glagow venues from April 6-9. For more information, to get tickets and check the full lineup, head here.
