Cosey Fanni Tutti To Publish Memoir

Out on Faber Social next spring

Cosey Fanni Tutti, founder member of COUM, Throbbing Gristle and Carter Tutti Void, is to publish her autiobiography in early 2017, The Quietus is very pleased to learn. Art Sex Music will tell the story of her early life in Hull through COUM’s work at the (often actually) bleeding edge of 1960s and 1970s art scene, to the pioneering music and tactics of Throbbing Gristle, coming up to date via Chris & Cosey’s sensuous pop and Carter Tutti’s more recent experimentation. The memoir, which will be published by Faber on April 6th 2017, is also "the story of her work as a pornographic model and striptease artiste which challenged assumptions about morality, pornography and art". Cosey Fanni Tutti will be appearing in conversation with Andrew Weatherall at Festival Number 6 later in the summer, while on October 26th at the ICA there’ll be a Q&A with Maria Fusco, a rare screening of the COUM Transmissions film After Cease To Exist, an exhibition of Cosey’s original ICA Prostitution magazine Actions and a DJ set by friend of tQ Richard ‘Cosey Club’ Clouston. This event will be a week after to the 40th anniversary of Throbbing Gristle’s birth at the final action of COUM, the ICA Prostitution event that had the collective branded "wreckers of civilisation" by Tory MP Nicholas Fairbairn. Check The Quietus in October for a full retrospective piece on Prostitution.
