Cornershop Collaborate With Free Tibet

Video for new single 'Don't Shake It (Let It Free)' to raise awareness of the 60th anniversary of Chinese 'liberation' of Tibet

Cornershop have collaborated with Free Tibet for the release of their new single ‘Don’t Shake It (Let It Free)’, to raise awareness of the Chinese state’s repression of Tibetans that oppose its rule. Taken from the group’s The Double O Groove Of album, the song’s video brings together footage of ordinary Tibetan life, state crackdowns and a Free Tibet London demonstration from earlier this year. It’s timed to coincide with the Chinese government celebrating the 60th anniversary of their ‘liberation’ of Tibet.

There’s something quite peculiar about such a jaunty song soundtracking some fairly harrowing images. That’s apparently part of the intent though, the huge contrast serving to reinforce the fact that much of what occurs within Tibet is hidden from international eyes.

‘Don’t Shake It (Let It Free)’ feat. Bubbley Kaur is due for release on 19th September through Ample Play Records. You can listen to the single on Soundcloud here.
