THIS WEEKEND: Connect The Dots

Sheffield festival returns for year two, with Martyn Ware, Darkstar and Fatima Al Qadiri on the bill

Sheffield-based arts and music festival Connect The Dots is returning for its second edition, taking place this weekend, May 24-25, at The Old Post Office and The Night Kitchen. On the bill are Martyn Ware (formerly of The Human League), Darkstar, Brooklyn-based artist Fatima Al Qadiri as well as My Panda Shall Fly, Jitwam, The Jazz Diaries, Perc Trax’ Manni Dee, Walter Ego and Andy H. As well as performing a separate DJ set, Ware will be exhibiting an exclusive 3D "sound installation" in collaboration with Darkstar on the Saturday and on the Sunday, there’ll be a series of technology talks, from Bruno Zamborlin, creator of the Mogees, Matt Cryarnkiewicz founder of Dropr and Alex McLean, who started up the technophile club night Algorave. Alongside this, there’ll be stalls from labels and collectives, including The Audacious Art Experiment, Bad Taste Records, CPU Records, First Word, InFiné Music Now Then and The Jazz Diaries.

This year’s line-up has been curated around the theme of ‘contact’, with festival founder Abdullah Al-wali saying: "In an increasingly digital landscape, many artists have returned to a hands-on approach that often incorporates more human contact and a more integrated experience for the audience and maker. Contact is where human communication begins and with a range of analogue and digital tools we can connect the human physical world with the virtual. We want to explore that digital/analogue interaction and look at how it affects our human contact."

Entry is completely free, so head over to Connect The Dots’ website for more information and check out the promo video above.
