As we’ve previously reported, Montreal-based saxophone mangler Colin Stetson is releasing his new album New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light on April 29 va Constellation Records, and we’ve got another taster from the record – listen to ‘Among The Sef’ below:

As ever with Stetson, it’s built around of brain-scratching technical skill, as a polyphony of notes and key-clicking lay down the back bone of the piece, before a voice, perhaps Stetson’s, emerges in the midst, a haunted, shrill, almost non-human sounding presence, which forges a collision of hyper-freneticism and withdrawn calm and that sounds, crucially, like very little else.
