TQ Ed, John Doran was the guest on Stuart Maconie’s Freakier Zone on BBC 6Music this weekend to talk about the transgressive/ experimental/ psychedelic outfit Coil.
The pair talked about the duo’s unlikely roots, the creative/ destructive influence of narcotics and alcohol on their music and how, in some respects, they were a very traditionally British institution.
J-Do had the unenviable task of choosing just five tracks from their formidable back catalogue and the 40 minute segment can be heard over at the BBC website.
The excellent England’s Hidden Reverse book by David Keenan which traces the parallel/intertwined occult musical histories of Coil, Nurse With Wound and Current 93 is being reissued by Strange Attractor Press in December.
