New Book Showcases Visual History Of UK Dance Music

A new book overseen by Bill Brewster will capture a 35-year visual history of UK dance music

Clubbed, an upcoming book overseen by Bill Brewster, will capture a 35-year history of UK dance music in visual form.

The book will collect material from a number of British club institutions past and present, including The Haçienda, fabric and Plastic People, to tell the story of the various scenes that have shaped British dance music history over the last near-four decades.

A Kickstarter campaign has been launched with the aim of raising £30,000 to fund the book with those pledging funds to the campaign receiving a copy at publication. It has almost reached the halfway mark of its target at time of publication.

"The book will feature logos, posters, photography, tickets, menus, cover art, signage, lanyards, fonts and, yes, flyers from the last 35 years," says a description on the Kickstarter page. The material for the book has been compiled by Rick Banks, the director of the book’s Manchester-based publisher, Face37.
