London-based guitar-pop four-piece Childhood recently released their new single, ‘Solemn Skies’, out via House Anxiety / Marathon Artists, and it turns out that former Spacemen 3 man Peter Kember, perhaps better known as Sonic Boom, is a massive fan. So much so, in fact, that he’s done a remix of the single, and we’ve got a first spin of it below:
Talking about how he first heard the band, Sonic Boom says: "I saw Childhood by happy accident at a festival we were part of in Nantes. The promoter, an old friend, had said to be sure to catch Childhood as he thought I would like them. Sure enough.
"The band have killer arrangements and I was impressed how the songs were honed like fine gemstones – old ones, with the cushion cut finish – like you see Henry the VIII wearing in old Holbein portraits… just a few precise cuts, nothing flashy. Just streamlined, considered elegance, but boiling over at times with a psyche-piercing volcanic fury… the sort of thing one comes across only once in a sunny summer of balmy blue moons."
Well said, Mr Kember. Have a watch of Tabitha Denholm’s video for the single below, and head here to get hold of the single.
