The annual Glasgow Film Festival begins this week on Thursday, February 14 running until February 24.
As part of the festival, the year-round Gaelic arts programme Ceòl ‘s Craic have announced Film ‘s Craic, a one-day programme of film and music taking place at the CCA on February 23.
There’ll be screenings of Andy Mackinnon’s short film ‘Sruth nam Fear Gorm’ about "the legendary Blue Men that haunt the waters of the Minch between the Shiant Isles and Harris in the Outer Hebrides" and Louis Martin and Sean Milne’s documentary of their voyage to the Shiants.
There music will be curated around the theme of improvisation with artist and composer Hanna Tuulikki performing parts of her multimedia project ‘Air Falbh Leis na h-Eòin’, which "explores the relationship between the Scottish Gaelic tradition and bird communities, and imitation of birdsong within Gaelic folk song in particular" in collaboration with Lucy Duncombe and Nerea Bello and a performance by free-jazz vocalist Maggie Nicols and and Peter Urpeth, specially commissioned for the event.
