Cat Power has released a cover of Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s 1964 hit ‘What The World Needs Now’.
“I wanted to release a song with a message of hope,” says Power aka Chan Marshall, “‘What the world needs now is love sweet love’ is a lyric anyone can embrace right now.”
The release comes after her tenth album Wanderer back in October received high praise.
tQ said of the record: ‘although not explicitly confrontational, [Wanderer] subtly undermines this longstanding and limited perception of what Cat Power is.’
