Sales of cassette tapes increased by 90% across the first six months of 2018, according to recent official data.
Over 18,500 cassettes were sold between January and June of this year, which is an increase on 8,747 tapes sold during the same period in 2017.
Amongst the best-selling cassettes for the first half of this year are Kylie Minogue’s Golden as well as Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix 2 Original Soundtrack.
The data does not include a number of cassette sales made by independent labels through mediums such as Bandcamp so this figure for total cassette sales within the UK may be significantly higher also.
