Capsule’s Home Of Metal Up For Award

Organisers behind Supersonic festival nominated for National Lottery award

Capsule, the group behind Supersonic, one of the Quietus’ favourite festivals, have been nominated for the National Lottery’s Heritage Award for their 2011 Home Of Metal project. Aiming to celebrate Birmingham and the Black Country’s mighty musical legacy, Capsule brought their typically all-encompassing curating approach to proceedings, hosting a weekender festival, numerous exhibitions in galleries, including one by Mark Titchner, avowed heavy metal fan, Turner Prize nominee (and Grumbling Fur sleeve art designer), film screenings and a homecoming gig by Judas Priest, as well as setting up a permanent digital archive of memorabilia and stories. Take a look at their website here.
