Cannibal Holocaust OST: Release Details

Death Waltz and One Way Static unite to release Riz Ortolani's score in two rather natty versions tomorrow; listen to three tracks below

Tomorrow will see Riz Ortolani’s score to the notorious Cannibal Holocaust released on vinyl for the first time, courtesy of a mighty joining of forces of Death Waltz Recording Company and One Way Static Records. The score to the 1980 film – famously banned in 50 countries for its extremely graphic content, which saw director Ruggero Deodato even facing jail time at one point – was last put out on CD in 2005, but this new release sees it out in two different versions: the appropriately-timed Valentine’s Day edition and a bumper deluxe edition. The former is a 2000-copy run on red vinyl, in a 300-gram jacket with obi-strip, all-new art by Graham Humphreys and an exclusive poster, while the latter is exhaustive: a gatefold jacket containing a full-colour booklet of images from the film, artwork sketches and exclusive liner notes from Ruggero Deodato, Stephen Thrower, Robert Kerman, Carl Yorke and Francesca Ciardi, a 12×12" art print, a fold-out poster and the record on 180-gram brown/olive with heavy red splatter vinyl. Revisit three tracks from the score courtesy of One Way Static’s SoundCloud above, cast your eyes over some rather nice shots of the two releases below and head to OWS’ website to get hold of the records tomorrow.
