London’s Cafe OTO is to host a three-day festival this summer honouring the life and work of the late Peter Rehberg.
Get Down, Get In… A Tribute To Peter Rehberg will take place across three consecutive evenings in July, and see a number of artists who released on Rehberg’s Editions Mego label play at the venue. Cafe OTO and Russell Haswell, together with Rehberg’s family and friends, have curated the bill.
The opening night, on July 1, will take in a duo performance from Oren Ambarchi and Julia Reidy, as well as live sets from Powell and a yet-to-be-announced special guest, and a DJ set of David Bowie tunes by Simon Fisher Turner. The following evening will see Klara Lewis and Nik Colk Void joining forces for a duo performance, in addition to live sets by Bruce Gilbert, Ana Quiroga, and Mark Fell and Jim O’Rourke as Remote. The festival’s final night, on July 3, will feature performances from Swedish composer CM Von Hausswolff, Farmers Manual, Finlay Shakespeare, and General Magic & Tina Frank. Russell Haswell will DJ on all three nights too.
Peter Rehberg passed away last July at the age of 53, following a heart attack. As founder of Editions Mego, he released records by artists such as Stephen O’Malley, Oneohtrix Point Never, Emeralds, Mika Vainio, Klara Lewis and Caterina Barbieri, in addition to his own music as Pita, and as part of various collaborative projects.
