Cabaret Voltaire Archive Releases Due

'Chance Versus Causality', the rare soundtrack dating back to 1979, will be available for the first time

Cabaret Voltaire have confirmed details of two new archive releases via Mute.

The first of those is their soundtrack for Chance Versus Causality, which dates back to 1979. It will be made available officially for the first time since the film’s release on limited edition transparent green vinyl, CD and digitally on August 30. You can listen to a short teaser above.

"Only one copy of the soundtrack existed, two reels of tape that were sent to Holland for inclusion in the film, a split-screen 16mm film that was given a limited release and never seen by the band," a press release from Mute explains of Chance Versus Causality.

The second archive release due from the band, which is also due out on August 30, is 1974-76. The album, which features early material from the band, was originally released on cassette via Industrial Records in 1980 and was later reissued on CD in 1992. Mute will release it on vinyl for the first time in a limited edition transparent orange double vinyl pressing, and it will also be made available digitally.

Mute has also confirmed that Richard H. Kirk is currently working on a new Cabaret Voltaire album.
