tQ gear up for a showcase and talks at the excellent Norwegian festival

The Quietus will be back in force at this year’s by:Larm festival, taking place in Oslo from February 26 to March 1. Bolstering an already fine line-up of artists Jenny Hval, Deathcrush, When Saints Go Machine, Serena Maneesh and Nordic Music Prize winners First Aid Kit, tQ will be hosting a final night showcase at Mono, featuring Sumie, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Sea Change, Baby In Vain, Tremoro Tarantura and Beastmilk, followed by a closing DJ set from editor John Doran.

All of this comes after a number of talks and Q&As run by Doran, fellow editor Luke Turner and Quietus writer and by:Larm contributor Wyndham Wallace. These include: Adrian Utley, most notably of Portishead and more recently of the Adrian Utley Guitar Orchestra, hosted by Luke on February 27 from 12.30-1.30pm at the Forum; 4AD managing director Simon Halliday, hosted by Wyndham on February 27 from 4.30-5.30pm at the Forum; David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick, Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock and Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom, hosted by John and Luke on February 27 from 6-7pm at The Tono Lounge and Matador Records founder Chris Lombardi and Nils Bernstein, hosted by John on February 28 from 1.45-2.45pm at the Forum. Elsewhere on the programme of seminars, there’ll be Q&As with both James Murphy and John Cale and extensive presentations of music technology and from industry figures.
