Built To Spill have a new album on the way.
When The Wind Forgets Your Name is the US indie band’s first album for Sub Pop, and their first studio album of original material since 2015’s Untethered Moon. Speaking about signing to Sub Pop for the album’s release, the band’s Doug Martsch said: "I’m psyched: I’ve wanted to be on Sub Pop since I was a teenager. And I think I’m the first 50-year-old they’ve ever signed." Listen to new single ‘Understood’, from the album, above.
The new album continues Built To Spill’s ongoing progression of shedding and gaining members with each new record, and sees Martsch work alongside Brazilian lo-fi punk artist Le Almeida, and his long-time collaborator, João Casaes, both of the psychedelic jazz rock band Oruã. The pair initially joined Martsch for a series of pre-pandemic live shows in Brazil, and he ultimately asked them to join the project, with the trio working on new music while rehearsing for those aforementioned live shows.
Sub Pop will release When The Wind Forgets Your Name on September 9, 2022.
