Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has been made an honorary Group Captain by the RAF, reports The Mirror
Renowned for his passion for flying, Dickinson famously pilots Iron Maiden’s personal customised Boeing 747 named Ed Force One.
He was enrolled earlier this week as a member of the 601 (County of London) Squadron as a reward for some years’ association with the RAF.
In 2008 Dickinson took the controls of an MoD-chartered 747 to bring its pilots home from Afghanistan to RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire, and in 2015 he made an emergency landing at RAF Halton when his replica First World War Fokker triplane ran out of fuel.
In 2010, he also flew the squad of Liverpool F.C. to Italy for their match against Napoli.
