Lyrics from Quietus favourites British Sea Power are to be found adorning the walls of the new wing of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London. The lines "Oh the heavy water how it enfolds / Always, always, always the sea / Brilliantine mortality" from ‘Carrion’ are to be found among other offerings from Shakespeare and Coleridge at the Museum’s Sammy Ofer Wing.
Says the ever-enjoyable British Sea Power mailout, "The BSP lyrics help welcome visitors to a new set of exhibits that include Sir Francis Drake’s navigation equipment, Captain Cook’s handwritten journals, Nelson’s last letter to his daughter and a love token made from a ship’s biscuit 200 years ago. This is the stuff. Occult communication from Sir Francis predicts that, ‘The parts of the world that verily have not yet discovered this most exotic and harmonious British Sea Power will now make their own happy realisation toward the majesty and charge of these musical adventurers.’"
The news comes as former British Sea Power manager releases his brilliant rock and family memoir, Do It For Your Mum via the new Rough Trade Books. Details of various launch events can be found here.
