Bristol New Music has confirmed plans for its return this May.
The city-wide festival will host its fourth edition this May, following a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among those set to play at the event this year are Angel Bat Dawid, Still House Plants, Nazar, Bendik Giske, Sarah Davachi, Tara Clerkin Trio, Hezarfen Ensemble, Ellen Arkbro, Harrga, MC Yallah & Debmaster, and Beatrice Dillon & Kuljit Bhamra, who first collaborated together on Dillon’s 2020 LP, Workaround.
Bristol New Music will also be host to a number of specially commissioned performances, including a presentation of Mica Levi’s new collection of scores, star star star, by an ensemble on the festival’s opening night. Elsewhere, Áine O’Dwyer will present a commission that "captures the song and instrumentation of time, place and people in the Bristol neighbourhood of Easton."
The event will spread out across a number of locations in Bristol, including venues such as the Arnolfini, St. George’s Bristol, St. Mary Redcliffe Church, Strange Brew and Vic Rooms.
Bristol New Music will take place from May 5 to 8, 2022. Find more information here.
