The third edition of Brighton’s Alternative Jazz Festival will take place throughout the month of October, across four venues in Brighton which will host over a dozen acts.
The festival commences on Thursday October 4 and will be held at the Verdict Jazz Club. Notable names on the line up are saxophonist Trevor Watts and long-time associate Veryan Weston on keyboards and electronics, who will be presenting their Quantum Illusion project.
Then on October 7 and 8, legendary architect of American minimalism, Terry Riley will perform intimate shows at St Luke’s Church, which is already sold out.
The headliner on the next weekend is German tenor-terror Peter Brötzmann, who will play alongside Marino Pliakas (bass guitar) and Michael Wertmüller (drums) as Full Blast. They feature at the festival’s main event on Saturday October 13; an all-day affair, which will also be held in St Luke’s Church.
For the last two weekends; American multi-instrumentalist Ashley Paul will be performing at the Rose Hill arts hub on Saturday October 20 and then the festival’s finale will be at Komedia on Tuesday October 30, with a highly anticipated show from British Jazz group Sons of Kemet.
