Brian Eno Pens Book on Art Theory with Dutch Artist Bette A.

What Art Does: An Unfinished Theory explores why the world needs art

Brian Eno has written a book with Dutch artist and theorist Bette A., called What Art Does: An Unfinished Theory.

The book explores the question of why we need art, and looks into its transformative qualities on both individuals and communities. A synopsis of the book describes it as “curious and playful”, as well as “an inspiring call to imagine a different future”. You can find out more about it here.

This will be Eno’s first book since 1995’s A Year With Swollen Appendices, which was a collection of diary entries and essays written by the musician.

Faber will publish What Art Does: An Unfinished Theory on January 16, 2025.
