With a number of shows across Europe and the US lined up, The Breeders have now shared a new track, called ‘Wait in the Car’. You can check it out above.
‘Wait in the Car’ is the first new music to be released by the line-up behind their album Last Splash since they reunited in 2013 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album. That line-up consists of Kim and Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson.
The band have been in the studio working on further new material, and the two-minute ‘Wait in the Car’ is the first taste of these studio sessions. The single will also form part of a series of 7" releases from the band, with the first to be made available at the band’s upcoming tour dates, which begin on October 15.
The first 7" in the series will be pressed on orange vinyl and will feature a cover of Amon Düül II’s 1970 track ‘Archangel’s Thunderbird’, recorded with Steve Albini in Chicago. Single two will be available exclusively at select independent record stores from October 27 – pressed on red vinyl, it will feature Kim Deal’s cover of Mike Nesmith’s ‘Joanne’.
Details of the third single, featuring a cover of Devo’s ‘Gates of Steel’ on yellow vinyl, will be announced later in the year. Each version is limited to 1,500 copies worldwide.
The Breeders play Glasgow’s ABC on October 15 followed by a show at Dublin’s Vicar Street the following night. They will then play sold out shows at Manchester’s Academy 2 and London’s Electric Ballroom on October 17 and 18 respectively.
