LISTEN: New BNNT Album On Instant Classic

Poland's Instant Classic label keeps lining them up, with the release of a new album from BNNT due imminently

Instant Classic, the Polish label, responsible for a number of our favourite albums in recent years here at tQ, keep up their ever-reliable form with their next release coming in the form of an album from BNNT.

The album, entitled Multiverse, is streaming above, and sees the duo of Konrad Smoleñski and Daniel Szwed pulling together a record mostly from improvisation with a focus on hypnotic percussion. It features guest contributions from Mats Gustafsson and Stine Janvin Motland, and takes some inspiration from Romanian philosopher Emil Cioran.

The release of Multiverse marks the duo’s first since 2012’s QASSAM, a two-track EP that they produced in collaboration with Polish rapper and Napszykłat founder Robert Piernikowski. BNNT’s Konrad Smoleñski stresses that the pair have been active in that time though, working on music and playing live together.

"One of the narrations of this album has a lot to do with different layers of reality that may coexist and this bibliography should serve the listener as a guide and provide a number of meanings," explains Smoleñski of the bibliography provided in conjunction with the release. "The ‘lyrics’ we included in the booklet are almost illegible, blurred. We put extra effort into treating them as music, more like a way of transferring feelings. This comes along with a perception that our own singular perspective may not be the most obvious one around."

The album is released this month via Instant Classic and can be pre-ordered here. The pair play Unsound in Kraków tomorrow (October 10).
