Blur Drummer Thumped At The Polls

Blur drummer Dave "Dave" Rowntree has become the latest victim to the swing against Gordon Brooooooon after he lost his bid to become a Labour councillor.

The sticksman and space enthusiast was beaten by Tory candidate Mehfuz Ahmed at the election for the Church Street seat in the Borough of Westminster. Rowntree was beaten into second place by a magin of 303 votes, though the turnout was a very meagre 24%.

Rowntree previously got licked by the Tories at a council by-election in Marylebone last year. He has also been selected as the Labour candidate for the Cities of London and Westminster constituency at the next General Election. However, Rowntree is going at the vote like a Polish cavalry officer taking on Panzer brandishing a shooting stick, 1938 – the Conservative majority at the 2005 election was a creditable 8,095.
