Blue Note Classics To Be Updated On New Compilation

Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Ezra Collective, and more have re-interpreted a number of the label's past releases

A number of classic Blue Note releases are to be reworked for a new compilation called Blue Note Re:imagined.

Leading artists from the new school of UK jazz and soul have been invited to deliver their own takes on tracks from the legendary jazz and blues label’s back catalogue. Amongst them are Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Ezra Collective, Melt Yourself Down, Emma-Jean Thackray, and Ishmael Ensemble. Above, you can hear Jorja Smith’s version of St Germain’s ‘Rose Rouge’.

The album’s full tracklist is yet to be revealed, but Blue Note says classic works by Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson, Donald Byrd and McCoy Tyner, amongst others, have been reworked for the compilation.

Blue Note and Decca will release Blue Note Re:imagined on September 25, 2020.
