Blackest Ever Black has put out its last ever release, a compilation titled A short illness from which he never recovered.
Taking in 10 tracks from an assortment of label regulars and some new faces, the compilation signals the end of the London-based label and its offshoots such as A14 and Id Mud.
Blackest Ever Black was founded in London in 2010 by Kiran Sande before relocating to Berlin until 2016 when it returned to London. Over the course of more than 100 releases, the label has put out music from the likes of Tropic Of Cancer, Carla dal Forno, Raime, Regis, Silvia Kastel, Ossia and a number of Dominick Fernow’s projects such as Prurient and Vatican Shadow.
The label’s closure was first signalled by Low Company, the East London record shop owned by Kiran Sande, earlier this month when the vinyl edition of A short illness from which he never recovered was initially shared for pre-order.
A short illness from which he never recovered is out now. You can find more details on the release here, where you can also hear the opening track from Scythe, ‘Flower, Drop’.
