LISTEN: Black Zone Myth Chant Reissue

Full play of Straight Cassette ahead of Laitdbac's vinyl and digital re-release

One of French experimentalist High Wolf’s various pseudonyms, Black Zone Myth Chant was the moniker assumed for a tape of "weird hip-hop" that he originally released on his own Winged Sun label in 2011. Speaking to us for the Rockfort column the same year, he said: "I’d never really thought about that before but one day I started to do something and then I made the full tape in three days, doing only that and really into it. In those moments I feel like there’s no way I’m going to do anything else in my life, it’s going to be only that…"

On a new reissue on Laitdbac Records (available digitally from July 28 and on vinyl from September 25), the original suite of loping, lopsided beats, gleaming synths and pitched-down mantras comes augmented with three ‘Bonus Beats’. You can listen to the album in its entirety above.
