billy woods has shared details of a new album, titled GOLLIWOG.
Set for release via his own Backwoodz Studioz imprint, the 18-track record features production and music from the likes of El-P, The Alchemist, Shabaka Hutchings, DJ Haram, Kenny Segal and Sadhugold. Backwoodz Studioz affiliates ELUCID and Cavalier are among the guest rappers to appear on the LP.
In a statement, woods said: “When I was nine years old I wrote a story about an evil golliwog. My mother read it and told me it was overly derivative and needed some work. Here we are.”
This is the US rapper’s first solo album in two years, following 2023’s Kenny Segal-produced Maps. The rapper also released an album alongside ELUCID as part of their Armand Hammer project, titled We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, later in 2023.
