Bill Wells Announces New LP

Wells reconvenes The National Jazz Trio of Scotland for new album

Ace Scottish multi-instrumentalist Bill Wells has announced that he’ll be releasing a new album with his National Jazz Trio Of Scotland, out on Berlin label Karaoke Kalk on September 16, following last year’s Christmas Album.

It’s called Standards Vol. II, but with Mr Wells being a contrary fellow, it’s all a bit misleading – the group, not a trio, play neither jazz nor standards. The LP’s mainly new material written by Wells and performed by him, Gerard Black, Robert Henderson and the three vocalists, Lorna Gilfedder, Aby Vulliamy and Kate Sugden, aided by a few friends from the Glasgow scene, Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake and Belle & Sebastian’s Chris Geddes and Stevie Jackson, along with versions of the traditional Scottish folk song ‘Mary Of Argyle’ and Moondog’s ‘My Tiny Butterfly’.

Stay tuned for further updates on this and, in the meantime, head over to the label’s website to pre-order.
