Composer and former Coral member Bill Ryder-Jones has been a busy man of late. After releasing his fine second album A Bad Wind Blows In My Heart, as well as his soundtrack to the film Piggy, last year, he’s been working with Saint Saviour on her forthcoming record In The Seams and co-producing Annabel Dream Reader, the debut LP by The Wytches. Now, as part of Philips and Noisey’s You Need To Hear This series, we’ve got a video of Ryder-Jones making a track from scratch, drawing on sounds recorded in his native Liverpool, ranging from a trumpeter, a talking shop, chords from a bar’s piano, a train carriage and the River Dee’s estuary (which sounds like his friend eating coleslaw apparently).
