Big Thief Drummer James Krivchenia Reveals Solo Album for Planet Mu

Performing Belief is out in May

James Krivchenia, drummer for Big Thief, is to release a new solo album through Planet Mu.

Spanning eight tracks, Performing Belief is Krivchenia’s fourth solo album and follows 2022’s Blood Karaoke. This latest LP was mostly made alongside electric bassist Sam Wilkes and double bassist and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Abrams.

Performing Belief incorporates field recordings that Krivchenia has built up across a number of years, alongside synths, drum machines, samples and various forms of percussion.

Listen to lead track ‘Probably Wizards’, which was made in collaboration with Wilkes, below.

Planet Mu will release Performing Belief on May 2, 2025.
