Latvian noise collective 1/2H 1/2W take the mantle for the Bezirk label’s eighth release marking their debut with Black Pelvic Fluids. ‘The Music’, lifted from the album, is streaming exclusively above.
Until now, the five-piece has existed only as a live project, with their shows seeing them improvise with a shifting array of instruments to create sounds. Seizing on that improvisatory basis for their debut record, the group fold in elements of free jazz and electronic music amongst the black metal and noise influences that form the key basis of their work.
The physical release of the album includes a tape only B side, which sees the band rework the record’s A side themselves. Bezirk is the tape label run by tQ’s very own Spools Out columnist Tristan Bath and Daryl Worthington of Beachers.
