Three people have died and others left with serious injuries when a coach returning from Bestival crashed, the BBC reports.
The fatalities, including the driver, were declared dead at the scene, while another passenger was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries. Others hurt in the crash are being treated in hospitals in London and Sussex.
The coach collided with a tree near the Hindhead Tunnel on the A3 late last night on its journey back from the four-day festival.
Inspector Richard Mallet of the Surrey Police said: "I understand the road was dry. We cannot see any reason that the road conditions would have had any effect on what occurred."
He added that local police will continue to investigate the incident, conducting a “thorough search of the scene including the coach and the surrounding area”.
Bestival organisers stated: "This is devastating news. Our thoughts are with the relatives of those affected by this tragic incident.”
Those concerned about passengers on board the coach can call a helpline set up by the Surrey Police on 0800 056 0154.
