Berlin’s nightlife community has banded together to create a fundraising campaign to provide emergency financial aid to at-risk nightlife workers in the city.
With Berlin’s clubs closed for the foreseeable future amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many people who do various roles within the city’s nightlife network are currently out of work and without income. Berlin Collective Action’s Nightlife Emergency Fund prioritises the most vulnerable in that community who cannot access other systems of support, including womxn, queer, trans and non-binary people, low-income gig workers, non-EU migrants, BIPOC, sex workers, the immunocompromised, the disabled and those who are unsafe in quarantine.
The fund, which has raised over €18,000 at the time of writing, exists to cover the most urgent living costs for those people: food, medical expenses, household-related bills, health insurance and rent.
Amongst the local collectives and organisations to have offered their support to the campaign are parties such as Cocktail D’Amore, Buttons, Lecken, Room 4 Resistance and mina, as well as booking agency POLY. Artists.
