Belle & Sebastian Launch Self-Isolation Project

'Protecting the Hive' will see the group collaborate with their fans while the COVID-19 lockdown continues

Belle & Sebastian have launched a special fan collaboration project inspired by the self-isolation that has come with various nations’ COVID-19 lockdowns.

‘Protecting the Hive’ sees the band call upon their fans to share their own words and thoughts on self-isolation which will then be put to use in different ways over the project’s course. The first instalment is an audiovisual piece narrated by the band’s Stuart Murdoch and friend Alessandra Lupo, set to images of Glasgow in quarantine, as assembled by Kenny MacLeod. You can watch it above.

The second part of the project will go live this Friday (April 24) and, according to a press release, it’ll consist of a set of audio files that the band will encourage fans to turn into their own recordings.
