Beck’s Song Reader At Rough Trade East

Ed Harcourt, Stealing Sheep, Steve Mason and more perform songs from Beck's latest (unrecorded) album

Later this week, Beck is set to publish Song Reader, his latest ‘album’ (out via Faber), albeit with the tracks in sheet music form, unrecorded, leaving the listener, essentially, to be the performer.

In advance of that, and to give you some inspiration for your own versions, a motley crew of musicians are assembling at Rough Trade East tonight to perform selections from the album, with Ed Harcourt leading a band comprising Stealing Sheep, Steve Mason, Liela Moss and Carl Barat in taking the music off the page.

The set begins at 7pm and you’ll need to either buy a copy of Song Reader in person or pre-order it from Rough Trade East here.

In the meantime, have a read of our interview with Beck, introducing the project, here.
