A new Leeds-based project Beat Back has announced its plans to boost support for the Leeds Industrial Museum with a series of residencies and performances with an aim to revive the long forgotten sounds of the mill’s former industry through the medium of music.
The project lasts from April 2-21, and the last day will see a live show featuring live music from Pye Corner Audio, Object Blue, and Bambooman, plus a DJ set from Boe&Lx.
Below, you can hear a playlist put together by Beat Back ahead of the show.
Bambooman will be working with community groups, conducting workshops at the museum, collecting field recordings of the wool mill’s bygone machinery and steam engines.
He will then use the field recordings taken from the workshop and, with restored recordings of the mill’s old workers, mix them with his live performance.
A number of artists will be in residence at the site until April 15, after which the museum will host installations, as well as printing and film.
