Battles Announce New Album

Juice B Crypts features guest appearances from Shabazz Palaces, tUnE-yArDs and more

Battles have announced details of their fourth studio album, their first since 2015.

Titled Juice B Crypts, the album sees the band return once again to Warp Records. It’s preceded by lead track ‘Titanium 2 Step’ which features Sal Principato of Liquid Liquid. You can hear that track above. Speaking about the track, Battles’ John Stanier says: "We loved making this record in our hometown of New York and cannot be more pleased that Sal from Liquid Liquid is on the track. It could not have been more perfect."

Speaking about the album, Battles’ Ian Williams explains: "It’s about chord progressions, resolutions, returning home. Take that and throw it into a blender of modern electronic tools like glitching devices, or use melodic lines and take them and regurgitate them and pulverise the traditional stuff but at the same time try and retain harmonic relationships while completely smashing them up"

The duo have enlisted guests including Taipei-based psychedelic band Prairie WWWW, Yes vocalist Jon Anderson, tUnE-yArDs and Shabazz Palaces to feature on the record. They will launch it with a free show at London’s Shacklewell Arms on August 13. To sign up to win a ticket for that show, head here.

Warp Records will release Juice B Crypts on October 18.
