WATCH: New Bass Clef Video

Video for last year's 'Stenaline Metranil Solar Flare' arrives in advance of a 12" of remixes

London-based synth alchemist Bass Clef released a great album last year in the shape of Reeling Skullways, via Peverelist’s Punch Drunk label, which we described as containing "such soul – such vehement chutzpah – that it’s difficult to view it as anything other than an unmitigated triumph." Taking a cosmically minded trip through house and techno, it found him blasting off into newfound orbit, away from the earthlier concerns of his earlier experiments in dubstep and rave musics.

Now, over a year since the album’s release, Punch Drunk are preparing to issue a 12" of remixes of the album’s ‘Stenaline Metranil Solar Flare’, and in celebration they’ve released Steven McInerney’s official video for the original track, which sets its deep-space musical drift to an appropriately sci-fi esque visual vista. Watch it via the embed below.

The remixes 12" features two versions: a weighty and raucous grime-tinged blaster from Bass Clef himself, and a hallucinatory slo-mo revisioning by Punch Drunk boss Peverelist, all lysergic shimmer and anti-gravity sub-bass propulsion. The digital version is bolstered by a version by Clef’s sporadically prolific alias Coseph Jonrad. You can pre-order the 12" from here, and in the meantime stream a snippet of the Pev version below.

In other Bass Clef news, he recently contributed a track under his modular synth-based Some Truths alias to the huge and varied Outer Church compilation, featuring alongside the likes of Kemper Norton, Grumbling Fur, Mordant Music and lots more. Click here to read our review of that compilation.

Peverelist’s Livity Sound trio have a busy couple of months coming up, with a pair of new 12"s by Pev & Kowton and Pev & Asusu released over the coming weeks (the former, ‘End Point’, is out now, the latter will be released next month), and a compilation CD gathering the Bristol-based group’s work to date.
