Bandcamp To Continue Fee-Waive Days For Rest Of 2020

Fans have put more than $20 million directly into the pockets of artists and labels over the first four such days

Bandcamp is continuing its monthly fee-waive days initiative for the rest of 2020 to support artists and labels struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first such day, which sees Bandcamp waive its usual 15% cut of download sales and 10% cut of physical and merch sales, took place on March 20, with three more continuing each month from May. As with the last three, all of the remaining fee-waive days will take place on the first Friday of each month, with the next one scheduled for August 7.

Bandcamp says that across the first four fee-waive days, fans have put more than $20 million directly into the pockets of artists and labels. The company also adds that since the pandemic hit the music industry, fans have bought more than $75 million worth of music and merch directly from artists and labels, and to date, fans have paid artists over half a billion dollars on Bandcamp.
