Ahead of its awards ceremony on January 23, the Arts Foundation are showcasing the shortlisted nominees in their Experimental Music category, being judged by Brian Eno, with a one-off concert at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on January 14. Alongside Quietus favourite, nature artist Richard Skelton (above), premiering his recorded output of modified instruments and field recordings, there is composer Lina Lapelyte, making the London debut of her piece ‘Candy Shop’, which "reworks the games of power embedded in rap songs" – have a watch of a clip here – Rie Nakajima, the Cafe Oto associate artist who produces arrangements using everyday devices and objects and Jennifer Walshe, performing a piece of "space-age ethnography", a "critical reading of the mass and character of data assailing us each day in the information age".
