Arts Foundation Features Brian Eno As Judge

The annual Arts Foundation awards in 2014 will include a prize for experimental music and one of the judges will be Brian Eno.

The four short listed nominees will be notable for their "experimental approaches to music making and composition including but not limited to electronic, jazz, contemporary classical, improvisation and sound art" and include Richard Skelton, Rie Nakajima, Lina Lapelyte and Jennifer Walshe.

The other categories being awarded this year are arts journalism, painting, sculpture and playwriting. In each category the winner will receive £10,000 and the runner up £1,000 announced at an awards ceremony held on January 23 in London.

In the arts journalism category, Quietus editor John Doran is one of the four shortlisted nominees along with T Lloyd-Jones, Isobel Harbison and Philip Clark.

The Arts Foundation – a registered charity – was established in 1991 after an anonymous bequest of £1m to support individual talented, emerging artists at a time when they have show commitment to and reached some standing in their artform.
