Årabrot’s Kjetil Nernes Diagnosed With Cancer

Main man of Norwegian group being treated for throat cancer

Kjetil Nernes, the core member of Norwegian noise rockers Årabrot, has been diagnosed with throat cancer. In a press release, the band’s label Fysisk Format wrote: "Following Årabrot’s recent UK tour, Årabrot mainman Kjetil Nernes has been hospitalised and is currently under treatment for throat cancer. The latest reports from the doctors say that his prognosis is good, but the cure will be hard and followed by long convalescence. Please join us in wishing him a quick recovery!"

Årabrot have been the Quietus’ favourite noise rock band for the six years that we’ve been running, and recently put in an amazing set to a packed house on our stage at Desertfest. Kjetil’s been a good friend to everyone who works on the site, most recently talking to us for a Baker’s Dozen feature, and we all wish him a speedy and complete recovery.
