Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works Volume II is getting an expanded reissue by Warp Records.
Out in October, the 30th anniversary release will include all of the album’s songs that were released on various different formats, together for the first time. Among those is the previously vinyl-only ‘#19’ (known more widely as ‘Stone In Focus’), which you can listen to below, and two additional tracks that will be officially released and included on physical formats for the first time.
In addition to getting a digital release, the reissue will be made available on a number of physical formats. One of those is a limited 4xLP vinyl box set, which comes with a fold-out poster, sticker sheet and booklet containing development sketches from the original artwork. It will also be housed in a hinged oak case with a bespoke copper-plated and etched Aphex Twin logo on the front. It’s only available for pre-order via the artist’s webstore at the price of £299.99.
Other physical editions will include a more modestly priced 4xLP vinyl set, triple-CD, and a double-cassette that is limited to 250 copies.
Originally released in March 1994, Selected Ambient Works Volume II is the second studio album by Richard D. James, and focuses on a more beatless ambient sound than its predecessor, Selected Ambient Works 85-92.
Warp Records will release Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Expanded Edition) on October 4, 2024.
