News flash! Aphex Twin has just announced a new EP, Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt 2. It’s due on January 23 via Warp – take a look at the artwork that’s been released so far above and below, and prepare yourselves now for what ‘disk prep calrec2 barn dance ( s l o )’ may hold. The news comes off the back of a flurry of Aphex activity last year: as well as Richard D. James returning with Syro, his first studio album in 13 years (listen below), he put out a collection of modular synth tracks and archive demoes for free, and saw test pressings of his Caustic Window, Analogue Bubblebath 5 and Melodies From Mars records surfacing online. In the meantime, pre-order the EP from Warp and read Joe Clay’s feature-length review of Syro here and tQ writers’ Aphex Twin Beyond The Hits piece here.
