The genre-hopping Scottish composer and recent subject of a tQ Escape Velocity interview, Anna Meredith, has announced a live premiere for her new collaboration with her sister, Eleanor, and The Scottish Ensemble (under the artistic direction of Jonathan Morton).
Titled Anno and based on Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, the hour-long piece combines the string arrangements of The Scottish Ensemble with harpsichord work and electronic manipulation from Meredith, melding Vivaldi’s four concerti into a single continuous hybrid.
Anno will be premiered on 6th and 7th June at London’s Oval Space, as part of Spitalfields Music Summer Festival. The venue will be re-designed by the Glasgow art and architecture collective, DO Architecture, with the aim of creating a space in which audience members can be entirely immersed in Meredith’s music and her sister’s projected visual works. Following the premiere, Anno will be toured around Scotland in Autumn 2016.
Tickets for the premiere event cost £15, and are available here. For more information about Anno and Meredith’s many other projects, head over to <a href=” http://www.annameredith.com“ target=”out”>her website.
