LISTEN: Anjou – Fieldwork

First play of track from new trio, featuring two members of Labradford

Anjou, the collaborative project between Labradford’s Robert Donne and Mark Nelson, will release their self-titled album on September 15, via Chicago-based label Kranky, and we have the track premiere for album closer ‘Fieldwork’ available to listen to above.

‘Fieldwork’ rises slowly with ambient synths eventually giving way to a more brooding second half. Anjou, which also features live percussion from Fennesz collaborator and Locrian member Steven Hess, is the culmination of four years writing and editing, combining modular synthesis and live instrumentation with Hess’ percussive mettle. Say Kranky of the project: "Anjou represents Donne and Nelson stepping out and forward, their eyes firmly focusing on the future." This is Donne and Nelson’s first release together since Labradford’s fixed::content LP which came out way back in 2001.
