Fresh from announcing a new single last week, those pesky scamps in Animal Collective have announced their first full-length studio album since 2009’s hyped-to-hell-and-back Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Entitled Centipede Hz, it will again be seeing release through Domino and is set for release on 3rd September. Deakin has also rejoined the band properly for this album, after the sabbatical that saw him miss much of the touring and fanfare around their last album. Apart from that there’s scant info available as of yet, though the tracklist is set to run as follows, and features the usual raft of references to childhood, magic, animals, nature, parents and so forth.
‘Moonjock’
‘Today’s Supernatural’
‘Rosie Oh’
‘Applesauce’
‘Wide Eyed’
‘Father Time’
‘New Town Burnout’
‘Monkey Riches’
‘Mercury Man’
‘Pulleys’
‘Amanita’
There’s also this enigmatic teaser trailer sent across from the label, whose frazzled guitar/synth textures suggest the band may well have been delving deep into the Olde English Spelling Bee-style vortex-pop world. More information when we have it.
