Anika Shares New Single, ‘Oxygen’

It's lifted from new album Abyss, which is out this Friday

Anika has released a new single, titled ‘Oxygen’.

The track appears on new album Abyss, which is out later this week. “‘Oxygen’ is about feeling trapped in your own body, in your own narrative, in your own society, within the norms and expected behaviours of this claustrophobic socially constructed world,” Anika said of the song. “It wants to break out of this cage, it wants to breathe, it wants to be in tune with its true self, its true feelings, sensations and desires – without restriction.”

She added that the track is “inspired by Breeders and Pixies, the way it creeps in slowly and then crashes with this weird chorus / part that only comes in once. I didn’t want to write things too rigidly, or by the book, more let them flow as they wished.”

Watch a video for ‘Oxygen’, which premieres exclusively via tQ, below.

Anika will be heading out on tour in support of Abyss accompanied by a four-piece band. An extensive set of shows will take her across the UK and Europe through this month and May, beginning at Berlin’s Volksbühne on April 20. Find the full list of dates here.

Sacred Bones will release Abyss on April 4, 2025.
